Urban Pulse
A city map informed by the signals around it.
A safety-routing prototype that collects local reports, classifies events, and compares route options using geographic risk signals.
The problem
Reports about local incidents are scattered across community discussions, news feeds, and public pages. Route planning rarely gives those signals a common geographic context.
How it comes together
The pipeline gathers reports, extracts location and event attributes, applies recency-sensitive scoring, and combines those signals with route alternatives on an interactive map.
Follow the flow.
RSS, community-post, and police-blotter ingestion.
LLM classification with a rule-based fallback.
Recency decay and geographic event storage.
Fastest-versus-safety-oriented route comparison.
Why this approach?
Make recency matter when combining signals: older events decay rather than contributing indefinitely to the same location's score.
An experimental decision-support prototype; its risk estimates are not guarantees of personal safety.
